Mufti Trampa issues a message on Eid al-Adha

The Mufti of Xanthi, Mustafa Trampa, issued a message on the occasion of Eid al-Adha. The message of Mufti Trampa is as follows:

"Dear Muslim Turkish Brothers and Sisters of Western Thrace! Praise be to Allah that we are filled with joy for having reached another blessed Eid al-Adha. Festivals are the happiest and most peaceful days when hearts come together around the divine commandment stated in the noble verse: "The believers are but brothers" (Al-Hujurat, 9). These are the days when our national and spiritual feelings reach their peak, when we strengthen our kinship bonds, renew neighborly relations, revitalize social life, and maintain the values of Islam, which is virtually a civilization of the heart. It is a time when we care for the poor, bring joy to orphans and widows, extend our helping hand to the needy and the destitute, and share their hardships, thereby keeping alive our cherished values.

We observe the blessed Eid al-Adha on Wednesday, June 28th, which marks the performance of the Hajj pilgrimage, one of the five fundamental principles of Islam. Starting from the morning prayer on the day of Arafa, which falls on Tuesday, June 27th, until the afternoon prayer on Saturday, July 1st, after the obligatory prayers, we recite the Takbir of Tashriq. On Wednesday, June 28th, we celebrate the noble Eid al-Adha, which is a financial obligation to perform the ritual of sacrifice. May the Almighty grant us all the opportunity to spend this blessed Eid al-Adha in peace and tranquility, both as the Muslim Turkish Community of Western Thrace and as the entire Islamic world.

Dear Brothers, Festivals are gifts and favors from Allah to this ummah. As narrated from Anas ibn Malik, he said: "When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) arrived in Medina, the people of Medina had two days in which they would play and celebrate." The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked: "What are these two days?" The people of Medina replied: "We used to celebrate on these days during the pre-Islamic period." Upon this, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Allah has given you instead of those two days, which are better than them, the days of Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr."

During the days of Eid, it is recommended to wake up early, perform ablution, brush teeth, wear permissible clothing that is beautiful and clean, show happiness and joy as a gratitude to Allah's blessings, greet fellow Muslims with a smile, give as much charity as possible, and spend the nights of Eid in worship.

Dear Brothers, The second duty we should fulfill after the Eid prayer is to offer the sacrifice. The Prophet (peace be upon him) did the same and advised his companions to do so. It is narrated from Bara' ibn Azib that he said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) delivering a sermon on the day of Eid al-Adha. He said: 'The first thing we will do on this day is to perform the Eid prayer, then we will return and sacrifice our animals. Whoever does this has followed our Sunnah.'"

Sacrificing an animal with the intention of worship is obligatory for a free, adult, sane, Muslim, and financially capable person. The obligation of sacrifice, which is a symbol of sacrifice in the way of Allah, demonstrates obedience to Allah's command and the consciousness of servitude. The purpose of sacrifice is not simply to eat meat or feed others with it, but to draw.
