Mufti of Komotini celebrates the Miraç Night

The Elected Mufti of Komotini, İbrahim Şerif, published a written message for the Miraç Night.

The written message published by Mufti İbrahim Şerif regarding the Night of Miraç, which will be celebrated on Friday, February 17, is as follows:

“Dear Muslim Turks!

The night that connects the next Friday, February 17, 2023, to Saturday is the Night of Miraç. Miraç is one of the important miracles of the Prophet.

It took place about a year and a half before the Hijra. In the dictionary; Miraç, which means "ascension vehicle" and "ascension", is a lofty journey that our Prophet (pbuh) made to high positions.

On the Night of Miraç, Responding to the divine invitation, the Prophet (pbuh) was taken to the Masjid al-Aqsa first, then to the heavens and to the lofty station called "Sidretu'l-Muntaha", together with Gabriel, and he was shown the secrets of the kingdom of heaven.

The beginning of this journey is explained in the Qur'an as follows: "Exalted is Almighty Allah, who took his servant one night from Masjid al-Haram to Masjid al-Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, so that we might show him some of Our signs. He is truly the Hearing, the Seeing.” (Isra, 17/1)

Since the Miraç event is a miracle, we need to look at it not with our limited and narrow measurements, but with the eyes of faith and heart, as a disposition of divine power. As with the miracles of other Prophets, the Mirac event is a source of inspiration that opens the horizons of mankind. Miracles cannot be explained by reason, they are only believed. We, too, As Abu Bakr said, "If he said it, it's true." He says, we believe without a doubt in what our Prophet informed us.

Daily five time prayers were made obligatory on the night of Miraç, it is a divine gift bestowed upon the Ummah of the Prophet. Prayer, as a form of worship, is the first commandment of our religion, the pillar of religion, and in the words of our Prophet, the light of our eyes. It is one of the most beloved of deeds to Allah. As a matter of fact, Almighty Allah states the following in the Qur'an regarding the importance of prayer. “Recite what has been revealed to you from the Book, and establish the prayer. Because prayer prevents people from immorality and evil. Of course, remembering Allah is the greatest act of worship. God knows what you do." (Ankebut, 29/45)

The Night of Miraç is an opportunity for believers to reach divine mercy and to worship, pray and make supplications with the consciousness of servitude. For this reason, regretting our mistakes and sins; Let's pray and make supplications for ourselves, our minority and the peace of the Islamic World. Let's give importance to the five daily prayers, which are the gift of Miraç, and our other acts of worship. Let us not forget that prayer is a spiritual bond and a kind of ascension between us and our Lord.

Dear kinsmen!

As we all know, we have been shaken by the earthquake disaster that took place in our motherland Türkiye recently. Thousands of our brothers lost their lives, thousands more were injured, and millions of our brothers lost their homes, possessions, property, and loved ones. On this occasion, let's pray for those who were exposed to this great disaster on the night of the oil lamp. Let's try to share their pain. May Allah have mercy on those who lost their lives, and we wish healing to the wounded.

As Western Thrace Muslim Turks, I would like to thank you for your great interest and sacrifice for the aid campaign of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board in order to heal the wounds of the earthquake victims, even if only a little. May our Almighty Lord accept our help.

For the sake of this blessed night, may Allah Almighty protect us and all humanity from such disasters.

I pray to God Almighty that this blessed night will conduce to the unity and solidarity, peace and tranquility of the Muslim Turkish Minority of Western Thrace and the Islamic World, and I congratulate all of you on the Miraç Night."
