MP Ferhat brings up infrastructure issues of Ports in Xanthi and Rodopi

Özgür Ferhat, the Rodopi MP from the New Left Party, raised the issue of the infrastructure problems at the ports located in the Xanthi and Rodopi regions. In a parliamentary question presented to the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Island Policies, as well as the Minister of Interior, Ferhat highlighted the significant infrastructure deficiencies at the Porto Lagos (Xanthi), Fener, Imaret, and Maronia (Rodopi) ports.

Ferhat emphasized that these ports are vital for the local economy, especially for fishermen, tourism activities, and businesses. He pointed out the lack of essential infrastructure such as health facilities, docking areas, and boat maintenance infrastructure, which complicates the functionality of these ports and negatively impacts the daily lives of fishermen, visitors, and the local community.

The MP asked the following questions to the responsible ministers for response:

Are urgent measures planned to improve the infrastructure?
Are there plans to include the ports in European programs, such as ESPA, or in funding or development projects?
Is there a timeline for implementing these projects?
How will the participation of the East Macedonia-Thrace Region and municipalities in development projects be ensured?
Has funding been allocated or is it planned for addressing the needs?
Is there coordination between relevant stakeholders to effectively address the issues?
