The longstanding Mother’s Day tradition organized by the Women’s Branch of the İskeçe Turkish Union continued this year with a well-attended celebration held on Sunday, May 10, at the association’s headquarters.

The annual event brought together mothers, children, and community members in a warm atmosphere emphasizing family values, unity, and cultural solidarity within the Turkish community of Western Thrace.

The program was hosted by İpek Salihoğlu, while the opening speech was delivered by Women’s Branch President Sevgi Sezai. In her remarks, Sezai highlighted the meaning and importance of Mother’s Day and emphasized the invaluable role mothers play in society and family life.

Children’s Performances Create Emotional Moments
As part of the celebration, students from the music group performed special songs dedicated to mothers, while children recited Mother’s Day poems that created emotional and heartfelt moments for attendees.

Throughout the event, families enjoyed a festive and joyful atmosphere. Special gifts prepared for mothers and children were also presented during the program.

Organizers stated that the event once again reflected the spirit of togetherness and solidarity that has become a hallmark of the annual Mother’s Day gatherings hosted by the association.

At the conclusion of the program, officials from the Women’s Branch of the İskeçe Turkish Union thanked all participating mothers, children, and guests while extending Mother’s Day wishes to the wider community.
