Minority MP pays visit to Minister of Education

In order to address the pending problems of minority education, Rhodope Deputy İlhan Ahmet paid visit to Education and Religious Affairs Minister Niki Kerameos in her office on Thursday, February 3.

Rhodope Deputy İlhan Ahmet visited Education and Religious Affairs Minister Niki Kerameos in her office on Thursday, February 3, and conveyed the outstanding problems of minority education.

Deputy İlhan Ahmet made a statement on his social media account regarding the meeting and stated that the meeting with the minister was productive despite their ideological and different perspectives.

İlhan Ahmet made the following statement regarding the meeting:

“Today, I visited the Minister of Education and Religion, Mrs. Niki Kerameos, in her office.

During our meeting, I brought the problems of education of the Rhodope province to her attention, and once again personally conveyed the problems related to minority education, which await urgent solutions.

I also had the opportunity to talk to the Minister about all of the other problems that are in the responsibility of the Ministry of Education and Religion, other than education, that are closely related to our Minority in Thrace and that await solutions.

In the productive meeting, I would also like to express that I welcomed the Minister's declaration of her will to find solutions and meet on a common ground.

Even though we have different political and ideological perspectives and views on many issues, we agreed with the Minister of Education that the most appropriate and efficient solutions for Thrace can be found through the work carried out under the roof of the parliament using the means of dialogue and parliamentary control.

I thanked the Minister for this bilateral meeting and expressed that I expected the solution to the important problems on the agenda only to be a mutual solution accepted by all parties.”
