Meaningful Ashura events held by women in Şahin and Koyunköy
On Sunday, July 6, volunteer women from the villages of Şahin and Koyunköy organized heartfelt Ashura events, bringing the community together in a spirit of tradition and spirituality.
Ashura Event in Şahin
Continuing an annual tradition, the Ashura event in Şahin village was attended by religious officials from the Muftiate of Xanthi, including Fatiha Husko, Betül Abdullah, and Hamdiye Bekir. The gathering featured Qur’an recitation (ashir), remembrance prayers (tasbihat), and supplications. Fatiha Husko also delivered a speech highlighting the significance of the day. The event attracted large participation from the local community, and guests were served Ashura at the end of the program.
Ashura Event in Koyunköy
In Koyunköy, an Ashura event was held for the first time in the mosque courtyard, organized by local volunteer women. The same representatives from the Xanthi Muftiate — Fatiha Husko, Betül Abdullah, and Hamdiye Bekir — were in attendance. The program included tasbihat, prayers, and a sermon inside the mosque, followed by the serving of Ashura to participants.
Support from Nadire Ömer Trampa
Both events were also honored by the presence of Nadire Ömer Trampa, wife of the Mufti of Xanthi and President of the Advisory Board of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace, Mustafa Trampa. Her participation underscored the importance of women’s community engagement and her support for such initiatives.
