Levent Sadik Ahmet: “Never give up being Turk”

Speaking to the youth, Levent Sadik Ahmet, son of the late leader Sadik Ahmet, said, “As the Western Thrace Turkish Minority, never give up being Turk. No matter what difficulties you face, never give upbeing Turk. You see the developments in the Balkans and the world. So let's be very careful.”

“Dr. Sadık Ahmet” theme competition started with a minute of silence for Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms on the occasion of the 108th Anniversary of the 18 March Çanakkale Victory.

As part of the event, a cine-vision show about Sadik Ahmet's life was given to the participants.

Then the protocol speeches started. GTGB President Sedat Hasan took the floor. President Sedat Hasan started his speech by greeting all the participants and said, “I once again commemorate with gratitude and longing our late leader and his comrades who have passed away to eternity, who devoted his life to this path in order to ensure the minority and citizenship rights of Western Thrace Turks, in short, humane living conditions.”

In her speech, DEB Party Chairman Çiğdem Asafoğlu said, “Those who think that our late leader has ended this struggle by giving a relentless struggle to change the fortunes of not only our party, but also an oppressed people who have fallen into an oppressed state, and who always shed light on us, should know that they ended this struggle with a questionable hand traffic accident they are in error. Dr. Sadik Ahmet is not dead and will never die. The best example of this is the little hearts that tell about Sadik Ahmet.”

Finally, wife of Sadık Ahmet, Işık Sadık Ahmet Honorary Chairman of FEP Party, took the floor. Işık Sadık Ahmet addressed the Turkish youth of Western Thrace in her speech and said, “On the occasion of March 18, I commemorate all our martyrs and veterans, especially Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, with longing and gratitude. As the Turkish state wrote an epic in Çanakkale, it will get through these difficult days due to the earthquake. In this sense, I would like to thank the Turks of Western Thrace and Türkiye for their support. I heartily congratulate our children who have put Sadik Ahmet in their little hearts in this competition. I sincerely believe that you will overcome the obstacles that may come your way in the future. We have an election season ahead of us. Let's not be deceived by political and populist approaches, let's be very careful,"

Finally, Işık Sadık Ahmet concluded her words by saying, “You young people, be brave, be devoted, and work, work.”

At the end of the event, Dr. Sadik Ahmet's portrait was hung at the Komotini Turkish Youth Union club by Aykut Unal, Turkey's Consul General to Komotini, and Sedat Hasan, President of Komotini Turkish Youth Union.

The event ended with a plaque presentation and a group photo shoot.
