Levent Gür, Aydın Özcan become nominees for parliamentary candidacy
In the parliamentary elections to be held on 14 May in Türkiye, Levent Gür and Aydın Özcan from Western Thrace became candidates.
Levent Gür, who is a candidate for Istanbul Deputy from the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), shared the following on his social media account about his candidacy: “My effort to be the voice of the Turks of Western Thrace and Rumelia and to serve for my Homeland, Mr. Devlet Bahçeli, our Chairman. I have made my application for candidacy for Istanbul 3rd region 28th term, together with the blessings of the Turkish Republic, on 17.03.2023 on the 100th Anniversary of our Republic.
First of all, my family, my teachers, I would like to thank everyone who has worked so hard for me to make this application.”
Levent Gür, a candidate for parliamentary candidate, had served as a member of the board of directors at the Western Thrace Turks Solidarity Association Headquarters for a while.
AYDIN ÖNCAN CANDIDATE FROM CHP
Continuing to work as a self-employed lawyer in Izmir, originally from Kösemezit village of Alexandroupoli, Atty. Aydın Özcan announced that he is a candidate for parliamentary candidate from the CHP.
As it is known, Aydın Özcan served as the President of the İzmir Bar Association twice, was the İzmir Branch President of the Western Thrace Turks Solidarity Association, and worked to improve cooperation with the bar associations in the Balkans. Özcan had also been nominated as a parliamentary candidate from the CHP in the past, but lost the election by a narrow margin.
WHO IS AYDIN OZCAN?
He was born in 1968 in Alexandroupoli, Greece. He attended primary school in Kösemesçit Village Minority School, which is the Western Thrace Turkish Minority School. He completed his secondary education as a boarding student at Karabağlar Cumhuriyet High School.
He started Istanbul University Faculty of Law in 1987 and graduated in 1991.
He completed his attorneyship internship at Bursa Bar Association. He has been working as a freelance lawyer since 1993, registered with İzmir Bar Association.
In addition, he completed his master's degree in Tax Law and Practices at Izmir Katip Celebi University Social Sciences Institute in 2018.
Aydın Özcan, who was the President of the Founding Platform of the İzmir Rumelian and Balkan Associations, served as the İzmir Branch President of the Western Thrace Turks Solidarity Association between 2002-2015.
