Laylat al-Miraj observed with enthusiasm in mosques across the Rhodope Region
On the evening of Thursday, January 15, 2026, the Elected Mufti’s Office of Gümülcine organized mawlid programs in multiple mosques throughout Rhodope to mark the occasion. One of the events that saw particularly strong participation was held at the Yeni Mahalle Mosque in Gümülcine.
The program at Yeni Mahalle Mosque began after the congregation performed the night prayer (Isha) together. In his opening address, Elected Mufti of Komotini İbrahim Şerif spoke about the spiritual significance of Laylat al-Miraj, emphasizing the importance of observing the holy night in the best possible manner. He highlighted the values of unity, solidarity, and the preservation of spiritual principles.
Following the speech, religious officials affiliated with the Elected Mufti’s Office of Komotini recited Qur’anic verses (Aşr al-Sharif), qasidas, religious hymns, and the Mawlid. The spiritually charged program concluded with a collective prayer, to which the congregation responded in unison.
Laylat al-Miraj programs across the Rhodope region were met with strong interest from the local community, with mosques filled with a deep sense of spiritual devotion and unity.
