The late Mufti of İskeçe, Ahmet Mete, was commemorated in Türkiye's İzmit and Soma with prayer gatherings marking the fourth anniversary of his passing.

The memorial events were organized by the Western Thrace Turks Solidarity Association (BTTDD), bringing together members of the Western Thrace Turkish community and local participants to honor Mete's legacy.

Participants offered prayers and remembered Ahmet Mete for his longstanding efforts in defending the religious freedoms, identity and rights of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority. Speakers highlighted his contributions to preserving the community's institutions and raising international awareness of minority issues.

Ahmet Mete, who served as the elected Mufti of İskeçe until his death in 2022, remains a widely respected figure among Western Thrace Turks for his decades-long advocacy on religious and minority rights.

The commemorations reflected the continuing recognition of his legacy both in Western Thrace and among the diaspora community in Türkiye.
