Komotini voters again vote for Yannis Garanis
In the elections held yesterday in Greece, the winner in the Municipality of Komotini was the current mayor Yannis Garanis.
In the local elections held yesterday, 8 October 2023, four candidates competed for the Mayor of Komotini.
In these elections, Yannis Garanis, President of the Citizens' Community List, Antonis Gravanis, President of KOMOTINI DINATA, Kostas Karaiskos, President of the SPARTAKOS List and Yannis Leventis, President of the Popular Coalition List competed for the presidency.
The current mayor Yannis Garanis, who is the leader of the Citizens' Community List, was once again elected Mayor of Komotini, leaving behind his strongest rival Antonis Gravanis, President of the KOMOTINI DINATA List.
The mayor Yannis Garanis, who won the elections in the first week of the elections with 53.85 per cent with the support he received from Komotinians, thanked his voters in his statement about the great victory and stated the following:
"We sincerely thank all the people of Komotini who trusted the Citizens' Community team. We ran a moderate election campaign. We tried to emphasise our work and asked for the support of the people of Komotini to continue the work we have done so far. In the next five years we will do worthwhile work for our city. Everyone is necessary in this endeavour, no one is superfluous"
The four mayoral candidates competing for the administration of Komotini Municipality and the rate of votes received by the lists they lead are as follows
Yannis Garanis - Citizens' Community List: %53,85
Antonis Gravanis - KOMOTINI DINATA List: %37,60
Kostas Karaiskos - SPARTAKOS List: %5,15
Leventis Ioannis - Popular Coalition: 3.40
