Komotini Municipality awarded for beaches

Upon the invitation of the members of the International Crisis Committee of the "Blue Flag" Programme, the Municipality of Komotini prepared its file and submitted its application.
The committee members evaluated the municipality's dossier according to criteria such as the quality of bathing waters, public information, trained lifeguards, lifeguard equipment, first aid, periodic cleaning of the coast and the availability of adequate garbage bins and found the dossier positive.
Four beaches of the Municipality of Komotini - Mesi, Fanari-Lulia and Fanari-Camp - were awarded the Blue Flag for good practices.
The committee congratulated the municipal administration for its intervention in the installation of watercraft on three of the beaches.
The Mayor of Komotini, Mr Yannis Garanis, on the awarding of the Blue Flag after the evaluation of the work on the beaches by the international committee, said:
"The good practices of the Municipality of Komotini in the field of "Accessibility of beaches for all" and our blue flag beaches prove our interest in having increasingly accessible areas for everyone. The Municipality of Komotini continues its efforts and services to create the access conditions defined by international rules."
