Joyful iftar gathering in Gencerli

An iftar program was held on Sunday, March 23, in Gencerli, a village in the Xanthi (İskeçe) Plain region, bringing together members of the local Turkish community in a spirit of unity and celebration. The event, organized by the İskeçe Ova Culture, Solidarity, and Brotherhood Association in cooperation with the Gencerli Village Trustee Board, took place with great enthusiasm and widespread participation.

Supported by the Muftiate of Xanthi, the iftar was attended by prominent figures from the Western Thrace Turkish community, including Mustafa Trampa, the President of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board and the Mufti of Xanthi. Also present were Adnan Öztürk, Deputy Consul representing the Consulate General of Turkey in Komotini (Gümülcine), Xanthi MPs Burhan Baran and Hüseyin Zeybek, Deputy Governor of the Region İrfan Hacıgene, and several municipal officials, organization leaders, and community representatives.

Mufti Trampa’s Message of Unity
In his speech, Mufti Mustafa Trampa emphasized the spiritual significance of Ramadan in fostering togetherness and brotherhood:

"The fact that Ramadan brings us together like this is a testament to its blessings and mercy. It strengthens our unity and solidarity. I would like to congratulate the Ova Culture, Solidarity, and Brotherhood Association, the Gencerli Village Trustee Board, and the youth of Gencerli for their efforts in organizing this magnificent iftar. I also extend my heartfelt thanks to all participants who have come from near and far to share in this moment of joy."

The iftar gathering in Gencerli once again underscored the strong sense of community and cultural heritage among Western Thrace Turks, reinforcing their commitment to traditions and shared values.
