İskeçe Muftiate publishes “İskeçe City Symposium” as book

The Muftiate of İskeçe has published a book based on the “İskeçe City Symposium,” held on March 2–3, 2024. The 519-page volume features articles by writers, journalists, academics, religious leaders, and professionals from across Western Thrace, offering a comprehensive exploration of the region’s history and culture.

In the book’s foreword, Mufti Mustafa Trampa highlighted the importance of documenting the city’s cultural, social, and spiritual values:

“A city conveys continuity from past to future, encompassing the qualities of its built environment. Preserving and transmitting its history, memory, traditions, and customs is equally vital. Analyzing the city’s characteristics with a view to the future is therefore of great importance.”

Trampa emphasized that the symposium aimed to examine İskeçe’s historical, social, demographic, economic, cultural, and religious structure. He noted that publishing the symposium’s proceedings as a book creates a permanent reference for researchers: “We are delighted to preserve both our history and culture for future generations.”

The book covers İskeçe’s political history, demographics, traditions, religious institutions, literature, music, and economic development, offering valuable insight into the region’s heritage. It is available directly from the İskeçe Muftiate.
