İskeçe Mufti issues guidelines for hunters on Islamically appropriate hunting
The İskeçe Mufti’s Office has issued important reminders to hunters regarding hunting practices in accordance with Islamic principles, as the hunting season continues.
Through its social media channels, the Mufti’s Office shared a visual titled “Key Considerations for Hunting”, outlining the following recommendations:
Hunting solely for entertainment or sport without necessity is not permissible.
Hunting during animals’ breeding seasons is prohibited.
Only animals whose meat is permissible to eat should be hunted.
The name of God (Bismillah) should be recited before shooting.
After shooting, the animal must be found immediately; if it is still alive, it should be slaughtered properly while reciting Bismillah.
The post emphasized that hunting is only allowed for necessity, and causing unnecessary suffering or death to animals is not religiously acceptable.
The Mufti’s Office urged hunters, especially during the winter months when hunting activity increases, to act with responsibility toward nature and living creatures.
The announcement resonated widely among hunters in Western Thrace, quickly receiving numerous likes and shares on social media.
