Important figure from Western Thrace passes away

Kadir Yunusoğlu, one of the former presidents of Xanthi Turkish Union, was sent off on his last journey after the afternoon prayer held at Xanthi Asagimahalle Cinar Mosque on Wednesday, January 25, 2023. Mustafa Trampa, Mufti of Xanthi, led the funeral prayer.
Kadir Yunusoğlu's funeral ceremony was attended by Xanthi Turkish Union President Ozan Ahmetoğlu and the managers of the association, as well as the Republic of Turkey Vice-Consul of Komotini Adnan Öztürk, Xanthi Mufti Mustafa Trampa, Xanthi Deputy Hüseyin Zeybek, Western Thrace Turkish Teachers Union President Aydın Ahmet, Xanthi Deputy Mufti Ahmet Hraloğlu, FEP Party Deputy Chairman Bahri Belço, former mayor of Gökçeler Birol İncemehmet, former mayor of Mustafçova Cemil Kabza, former deputy governor of Xanthi Musa Vidinli and many relatives and teachers attended.
A funeral prayer was held for Kadir Yunusoğlu in Xanthi Downtown Cinar Mosque. Mustafa Trampa, Mufti of Xanthi, led the funeral prayer. In his speech, Mufti of Xanthi Trampa stated that Kadir Yunusoğlu is an important figure and said that he served the Western Thrace Turkish Minority in many fields for many years.
President of Xanthi Turkish Union, Ozan Ahmetoğlu, reminded that Kadir Yunusoğlu was the chairman of Xanthi Turkish Union for eight years and said, "He was the chairman of our association during the most difficult period of Western Thrace Turks. Again, in the same period, he took place as a parliamentary candidate in the independent İkbal list created in Xanthi. He has served this community for years as a teacher. There is no doubt that our teacher Kadir is a litigator. May God have mercy on him, may he rest in heaven."
At the ceremony, Xanthi Deputy Hüseyin Zeybek and President of the Western Thrace Turkish Teachers' Union, which he chaired for two years, Aydın Ahmet gave speeches. Kadir Yunusoğlu was buried in Karacanlar village of Xanthi, his birthplace.
Kadir Yunusoğlu served as the chairman of Xanthi Turkish Union for eight consecutive years between 1986 and 1993.
In the statement made by the Xanthi Turkish Union, the ex-president Kadir Yunusoğlu conveyed his condolences to his family, relatives, students, and the Xanthi Turkish Union community.
Kadir Yunusoğlu, like the late Xanthi Mufti Mehmet Aga, received heavy blows on his body in the events of January 29 and was left as he died. Kadir Yunusoğlu survived the January 29 events with serious injuries and received treatment for a long time.
