Hıdırellez Festival in Yassıköy

The residents of Yassıköy (Iasmos) celebrated the arrival of spring with the magnificent Hıdırellez Festival. Many relatives attended the event.

After the magnificent charity bazaar it organized for earthquake victims in homeland Türkiye, Yassıköy (Iasmos) Municipality Minority Culture Association (YBAKD) Women's Branch carried out another very successful event on Sunday, May 14. 

YBAKD Women's Branch celebrated the arrival of spring with the Hıdırellez Festival organized in the village football field.

Along with the citizens of Yassıköy, hundreds of cognates from the Rhodope region and different villages participated in the event.

YBAKD Women's Branch president and managers welcomed the guests attending the festival at the entrance of the event area.

The entertainment program started after the crowd gathered on the football field and the invited managers took their places in the protocol.

In the festival, Grup Life, one of the local music groups, took the stage and gave a concert to the participants.

Afterwards, first the folklore group and then the music group of the Dinkler Hanımeli Association from Xanthi took the stage.

They added colour to the event with the folk dances performed and the songs they sang.
Later, Yassıköy Qur'an Course students took the stage and presented a theatrical performance within the framework of religious knowledge.

In the last part of the entertainment program, Komotini Turkish Youth Union folklore group took the stage.

While the Hıdırellez Festival, organized by the Women's Branch of the Yassıköy Municipality Minority Culture Association, was successful, traditional corn “gölle” and lemonade were served to the participants.

In the event, a face painting activity was held and traditional competitions were organized. 
In the event area, pastries, donuts, cookies and desserts, as well as meatballs sandwiches, were offered for sale at different stands.
