Health and Social Assistance Week successfully concludes in Rhodope

The Health and Social Assistance Week, held in the Rhodope region from November 11 to 17, 2024, garnered widespread participation from citizens of all ages and concluded successfully. The events aimed to raise awareness and educate attendees on physical and mental health topics.

The week included school discussions on bullying, sports activities bringing together children with disabilities and their typically developing peers, and sessions addressing disease prevention, the needs of the elderly, and family violence. Special emphasis was placed on encouraging students and university youth to donate blood and adopt healthy lifestyles.

This initiative, led by East Macedonia and Thrace Governor Christodoulos Topsidis, sought to inform the public, especially vulnerable groups, about health and social assistance matters. Topsidis emphasized the importance of continuing and expanding such initiatives to improve public health and strengthen preventive healthcare services.

Following the events, Rhodope Unit Deputy Governor Emmanuil Tapakas expressed gratitude to health unit staff, participants, and supporting organizations. He highlighted the significance of these efforts in fostering social solidarity and awareness:
