Hatim Ceremonies continue with joy in Xanthi

Year-end “hatim” (Qur’an completion) ceremonies organized by the Xanthi Mufti Office for Qur’an courses under its authority continued this past weekend, drawing large and enthusiastic crowds.

On Sunday, May 11, two major ceremonies were held in the villages of Şahin (Echinos) and Dinkler (Dimario).

Şahin Village Celebration
In Şahin village, a festive ceremony took place at the Yukarı Mahalle Mosque, under the supervision of Hamdi Bekir, featuring students from the Şahin Qur’an Course. The children’s recitations of the Qur’an, religious hymns (ilahi), and poems were met with admiration by the attendees.

The event saw the attendance of numerous dignitaries, including:

  • Mustafa Trampa, President of the Consultative Committee of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace and the respected Mufti of Xanthi
  • Burhan Baran and Hüseyin Zeybek, minority MPs from Xanthi
  • Irfan Hacıgene, Deputy Governor
  • Ahmet Kurt, Mayor of Mustafçova
  • Former mayors Cemil Kabza and Rıdvan Delihüseyin
  • Representatives from various regional and municipal councils, civil society organizations, and local Turkish minority institutions

Mufti Mustafa Trampa expressed his feelings in a social media post:

“We participated in today’s hatim ceremony in Şahin. It was a deeply joyful and emotional occasion. I congratulate our children, and extend my gratitude to their teachers and families. May Allah be pleased with them. We are also thankful to the people of Şahin for their warm hospitality.”

Dinkler Village Ceremony
That same day, another ceremony was held in the neighboring village of Dinkler, where Deputy Mufti Ahmet Hraloğlu represented the Mufti Office.

Students of the Dinkler Qur’an Course, trained by instructors Cesur Hasanoğlu and Meryem Dükkancı, impressed the audience with their performance and recitations. At the conclusion of the program, students received commemorative plaques for their achievements.

The event was also attended by:

  • MPs Hüseyin Zeybek and Burhan Baran
  • Regional Council Member Fatih İsmailko
  • Head of Religious Services at the Mufti Office Rıdvan Topçu
  • Religious officials and many guests from neighboring villages
  • Deputy Mufti Hraloğlu conveyed greetings from Mufti Mustafa Trampa and praised the students, teachers, and parents for their efforts.

The next hatim ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 18, at Çınar Mosque in Xanthi city center, continuing the month-long series of events.
