Gümülcine: 36-year-old foreign national killed in traffic accident involving stolen vehicle

A fatal traffic accident occurred on January 6, 2026, at approximately 09:15, on the 12th kilometer of the Gümülcine–Şapçı provincial road.
According to police information, a passenger vehicle driven by a 36-year-old foreign national, with a 22-year-old foreign national as a passenger, veered off the road, overturned into a nearby agricultural field, and subsequently caught fire. As a result of the accident, the driver sustained fatal injuries.
It was later confirmed that the vehicle involved had been reported stolen on January 4, 2025, to a police department in Selanik.
The circumstances of the accident are under investigation by the competent authorities.
