GTGB's traditional cross-country run takes place in Kartalkaya
The 34th Traditional Cross Country Run of Komotini Turkish Youth Union (GTGB) took place on Sunday 26 May at Kartalkaya in Semetli village of Rhodope province.
One of the oldest events of Komotini Turkish Youth Union (GTGB), the Traditional Cross-Country Run was well attended by the compatriots.
In 12 categories according to age groups, male and female athletes sweated for the first place.
Afterwards, gifts were presented to the ranking athletes.
The event ended with the performance of the GTGB Folk Dance Team.
Sedat Hasan, President of Komotini Turkish Youth Union, said: "Today we held the 34th edition of the cross-country run organised by GTGB. There was a great crowd. Our young people and our people embrace the cross-country run organised by our association. They protect our unity and solidarity. I would like to thank the Youth Branches of GTGB. God willing, we will continue to protect our events in the following years."
The event was attended by Consul General of Turkey in Komotini Aykut Ünal and his wife İlayda Ünal, President of the Friendship Equality Peace (FEP) Party Çiğdem Asafoğlu, Mayor of Yassıköy Caner İmam, President of the Western Thrace Turkish Teachers' Union Aydın Ahmet, President of the South Evros Association Hüseyin Mahmut and many cognates.
