GTGB criticises the decision to close the Fenerbahce Association as "intimidation"
Komotini Turkish Youth Union (GTGB) condemned the closure decision regarding the Western Thrace Fenerbahce Sports and Culture Association.
In the statement made by GTGB, "The decision in question is an intimidation against the organisations representing the Turkish community in Western Thrace."
The statement of Komotini Turkish Youth Union is as follows:
"We condemn the decision to close down the officially operating Western Thrace Fenerbahce Association as a result of the closure case filed against the Western Thrace Fenerbahce Association on Tuesday 28 May 2024 at the Civil Court of First Instance in Komotini.
This decision is an intimidation against the organisations representing the Turkish community in Western Thrace. The intolerance of Greece, which closes our associations and does not allow the establishment of new ones because of the word 'Turkish' in their names, continues against the Turkish presence in the region. We hope that this unjust decision will be reconsidered as soon as possible and the necessary action will be taken."
