GTGB 33rd Traditional Cross Country Run attracts great interest

The 33rd Traditional Cross Country Run organised by the Komotini Turkish Youth Union (GTGB) took place today with an intense participation. 

There was great interest in the 33rd edition of the run organised by the Komotini Turkish Youth Union (GTGB), which has become a tradition.

A total of 98 competitors participated in the traditional run organised in Kartalkaya area near Semetli village this year. The competitors ran in different groups according to their ages, boys and girls, in order to be ranked.

The Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Komotini Aykut Ünal and his wife İlayda Ünal, who participated in the running event before the competitions, did not leave the compatriots and the competing young people alone. Other local administrators and candidates took a collective souvenir photo with the competing children and young people.

After the race registrations were completed, the races started with the youngest children and the competitions continued in groups according to their age.

After the completion of the races in the groups, the award ceremony was held. The competitors who ranked in the races were given more valuable gifts, while all the competitors who participated in the races were awarded with different gifts.

In line with the programme of the Traditional Cross Country Run, the Folklore Team of the Komotini Turkish Youth Union performed and the instrumental ensemble gave a concert to the participants. At the end of the event, a meal was served to the participants.
