Greece under investigation for not implementing ECtHR desicions
The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe will re-investigate Greece, which insists on not implementing the ECtHR decisions regarding Turkish minority associations.

The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe will investigate the implementation of the ECtHR decisions regarding Turkish minority associations in Greece at its meeting in the coming days. The meeting will be held in Strasbourg, the headquarters of the Council of Europe, on 7 – 9 June.

The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, at its last meeting on 9 – 19 March 2021, held the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) regarding the Xanthi Turkish Union, the Rhodope Province Turkish Women Cultural Association and the Meriç Province Minority Youth Association, known as the “Bekir Usta and Others Group Cases” and once again warned Greece, which has not implemented its decisions for 13 years. In its last meeting, the Council of Ministers demanded that Greece take a concrete step regarding minority associations until June, and announced that an interim decision would be made against Greece if no concrete steps were taken by Greece.
