The pressure and intimidation policies of Greece against the Turks of Western Thrace are getting deeper and deeper.
Greece knows no bounds in its oppression of the Turkish Minority

The oppression methods applied to Western Thrace Turks for years now show themselves in different fields and with different methods.

In addition to the oppressive practices of Greece against the minority and human rights of the Western Thrace Turks, the judicial pressure methods against the religious leaders of the minority and the minority media came to the fore.

In the last period, financial pressures on the names and organizations that work in the private sector of the minority and come to the forefront in the struggle for the rights of the Turkish Minority have begun to come to the fore.

Ahmet Kara, one of the successful lawyers of Xanthi, who is also the Chairman of the Xanthi Minority Secondary and High School Council Committee and the President of the Association of Western Thrace Minority Schools Councilors, revealed the dimensions of the financial pressure with a post on his social media account.

Lawyer Ahmet Kara shared the following from his personal social media account:

“Except for the documents from the bank, the preparation is complete. But, if you hadn't asked for what reason, at least the amounts that we have deposited into our own account are obvious.

An explanation of a total of 497 transactions in the last 5 years accounts entries exits. We have been dealing with this for 2 months as well as our other works. Not to mention the stress and intensity of the job. While we are being asked to account for even 20 Euros, someone is taking away millions. Just a word; If we were afraid of iron, we would not take the train. Good luck.”

Another person who has been subjected to similar financial pressures is Hüseyin Baltacı, one of the successful medical doctors of Xanthi, President of the Western Thrace Minority Graduates Association.

Dr. Hüseyin Baltacı also demonstrated his determination towards the financial pressures they were exposed to through the posts he made on his personal social media accounts.

Dr. Baltacı's social media posts said, "Do you think you can scare us? Keep going” and “Our students are left without school, our young people are lynched, the financial controls do not breathe, and deputies are threatened on live broadcast.” In fact, their statements clearly reveal the methods of oppression and intimidation in different fields against the Turks of Western Thrace.

According to the information obtained, similar financial pressures continue against individuals and institutions that take their place in the struggle for the rights of the Turkish Minority in Xanthi, Komotini and Meriç (Evros) provinces.
