Founder of the Republic of Türkiye Atatürk commemorated in Komotini
The great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Türkiye, was commemorated with mercy and gratitude at the ceremony organised in Komotini on the 85th anniversary of his passing away.
On the occasion of the anniversary of Atatürk's death, the Consulate General of Türkiye in Komotini organised a commemoration ceremony today, Friday 2023 November 09.05.
Consul General Aykut Ünal, his wife İlayda Ünal, deputy consuls, attaché, consular staff, President of the Advisory Board of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace and Mufti of Komotini İbrahim Şerif, Mufti of Xanthi Mustafa Trampa attended the ceremony held in the garden of the Consulate General, Deputy Mufti of Komotini Fehim Ahmet, President of Friendship Equality Peace Party Çiğdem Asafoğlu, SYRIZA Party Xanthi MP Hüseyin, former MPs Ahmet Hacıosman and Mustafa Mustafa, newly elected Mayor of Yassıköy Caner İmam, Erdem Hüseyin, newly elected Mayor of Kozlukebir, Ahmet Kurt, newly elected Mayor of Mustafçova, Aydına Ahmet, President of the Western Thrace Turkish Teachers Union, Sinan Ahmet, President of the Thracian Tobacco Producers Cooperative, Ozan Ahmetoğlu, President of the Xanthi Turkish Union, Sedat Hasan, President of the Komotini Turkish Youth Union, Hüseyin Bostancı, President of the Western Thrace Culture and Education Company and Pervin Hayrullah, Director, Hüseyin Baltacı, President of the Western Thrace Minority Higher Education Association and cognates attended.
The commemoration ceremony in the garden of the Consulate started with a minute of silence. Then the National Anthem was read.
In the continuation of the programme, Consulate General Attaché Can Sercan Altay made a speech indicating the meaning and importance of the day.
Finally, Consul General of Komotini Aykut Ünal greeted the participants.
