Former WTMUGA president Mehmet Emin laid to rest in Western Thrace
Former president of the Western Thrace Minority Higher Education Association, Mehmet Emin, was laid to rest on Friday following a funeral ceremony attended by a large number of mourners in Gümülcine.
Emin passed away on Thursday morning, April 16, after suffering a heart condition while in a vehicle in the Dimetoka region. His passing was met with deep sorrow across the Western Thrace Turkish community.
Funeral Held Amid Large Attendance
The funeral ceremony was held at his residence in Gümülcine, where family members received condolences from relatives, friends, and community members.
Following the home ceremony, his body was taken to Mastanlı Cemetery, where the funeral prayer was performed before he was laid to rest.
A large crowd attended both the funeral prayer and burial, paying their final respects.

Emin was a well-known figure within the Western Thrace Turkish minority, having served as president of the Western Thrace Minority Higher Education Association. His work in the field of education and community advocacy left a lasting impact on local institutions and civil society.
