Former İskeçe Turkish Union chairman Kadri Çavuşoğlu dies
Kadri Çavuşoğlu, a former chairman of the İskeçe Turkish Union (ITB) and a longtime teacher at the Koyunköy Turkish Minority Primary School, has died in İzmit, Türkiye.
Çavuşoğlu served as chairman of the İskeçe Turkish Union in 1973. He spent many years teaching in Koyunköy, contributing to the education and development of numerous students in the Western Thrace Turkish community.
In the later years of his life, Çavuşoğlu moved to Türkiye and settled in İzmit. He was also a member of the İzmit branch of the Association for Solidarity with Western Thrace Turks.
Funeral to be held in İzmit
The İzmit branch of the Association for Solidarity with Western Thrace Turks announced that Çavuşoğlu’s funeral would be held on Wednesday, August 26, following the afternoon prayer at Topçular Yolu Mosque.
In a condolence message, the association described Çavuşoğlu as a native of İskeçe who had previously served as chairman of the İskeçe Turkish Union and worked as a teacher in Koyunköy.
İskeçe Turkish Union issues condolence message
The İskeçe Turkish Union also issued a condolence message following the death of its former chairman.
The union’s board said it learned of Çavuşoğlu’s death with deep sorrow and extended its condolences to his family, relatives, loved ones and the wider Western Thrace Turkish community.
