Minister Çavuşoğlu, who came to Greece to meet with his Greek counterpart Nikos Dendias in the capital Athens, started his program from Western Thrace.
Minister Çavuloğlu, who came to the city of Dedeağaç (Alexandroupoli) from Turkey by plane, was welcomed at the airport by Turkey's Ambassador to Athens Burak Özügergin, Turkey's Consul General to Komotini Murat Ömeroğlu and the assistant consuls. The minister arrived in Komotini by land with the delegation that greeted him.
Visiting Western Thrace, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu arrived in Komotini at 11:00 in the morning.
Minister Çavuşoğlu first went to the Turkish Consulate General in Gümülcine (Komotini), where he met with the elected muftis of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority İbrahim Şerif and Ahmet Mete. The conversation took about an hour.
After meeting with the elected muftis, Minister Çavuşoğlu left the consulate building and visited the Celal Bayar Minority High School in Komotini.
Welcomed by the School Principal Tunalp Mehmet, teachers, the school board committee and a group of students, Minister Çavuşoğlu first met with the school administration and councils inside the school building. Then he sat down and chatted for a while with the students who greeted him outside the school.
After the visit, the school administration and students took a photo with Minister Çavuşoğlu.
While leaving the school, Minister Çavuşoğlu encountered a minority mother in front of a house close to the school, personally entered her and asked about her well-being and chatted.
Completing his visit to Celal Bayar Minority High School, Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu met with minority administrators in Eşekçili village for lunch.
