Fire breaks out in the Rhodope region, citizens warned
The fight against the fire, which is said to have started in the forest area around the dam near the village of Sofular (Askites), located on the borders of Maronya-Shapchi Municipality, continues.
The fire, which started at around 16.00 today, spread to a wide area in a short time due to the extremely hot weather. In order to prevent the fire, which also threatened a barn in the forest area, from reaching the settlement, extinguishing works were started both from land and air in a short time.
While the fight against the fire continued, the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Defence sent a warning message to the mobile phones of the citizens of Rhodope at 17.45.
In the warning message sent by the Ministry, it was stated: "Be prepared for a forest fire in the Rhodope region Askites, follow the instructions of the authorities and follow the orders."
