FEP Party reacts very strongly to Stigas!

Friendship Equality Peace (FEP) Party reacted very harshly to Vasilis Stigas, the head of the parliamentary group of the far-right Spartiates party, who insulted Dr Sadık Ahmet in his speech in the parliament during the budget negotiations.

With a written statement issued on Monday, 18 December, the Friendship Equality and Peace Party reacted very strongly to the far-right MP who questioned the national identity of Western Thrace Turks and insulted the late Dr. Sadik Ahmet from the Greek parliamentary rostrum.

The FEP Party issued a written statement under the title 'The height of impudence'.

Description:

"THE EPITOME OF IMPUDENCE

Within the scope of his visit to Greece, the President of the Republic of Turkey, Mr Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a meeting with the representatives of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace at the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Athens.

Vasilis Stigas, the far-right Spartan MP Vasilis Stigas, who took the floor during the budget negotiations in order to criticise the participation of the MPs elected by the Minority in this meeting, pushed the boundaries of rudeness and used ugly and unkind words for the late Dr. Sadik Ahmet, the founding president of our party and the leader of the Western Thrace Turks.

After criticising the Minority MPs, he said: "Have we forgotten what happened with Sadık? An MP of the Greek state used to come out and say that he was a Turk. Until the lorry hit him, he was relieved and so were we".

This ignorant of history, who has no sense of humanity, did not see any harm in shouting that our leader Dr Sadık Ahmet, who defines himself and the minority as TURKISH, was saved by being hit by a truck.

28 years ago, instead of respecting the memory of a person who died in a tragic and shady accident, he preferred blasphemy.

He is obviously far away from this geography and is ignorant of the history of these lands.

Until 1983, this state itself did not see any problem in calling these people Turks. The circulars issued by the then governor of Rodopi are evident.

The prohibition of the ethnic identity of these people is a gift of the antidemocratic junta rule.

Do not forget that everyone has an ethnic and a religious identity. Everyone is free to define themselves as they wish.

The international conventions we have signed as a country are obvious.

Beating water in a mortar is of no use to anyone."
