FEP Party hosts U.S. diplomats in İskeçe
The Friendship, Equality, Peace (FEP) Party welcomed U.S. diplomats in İskeçe on Tuesday, 9 December. Representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Athens and the U.S. Consulate General in Selanik visited the party’s local branch, where they discussed current issues facing the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace as well as recent developments in the region.
FEP Party Chairwoman Çiğdem Asafoğlu received the delegation. Also present at the meeting were Hüseyin Baltacı, President of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Graduates Association (BTAYTD); Kerem Abdurrahimoğlu, President of the İskeçe Turkish Union; and Pervin Hayrullah, General Director of BAKEŞ.
In a statement released by the FEP Party, officials noted that the meeting included comprehensive discussions about the challenges and concerns of the Turkish Minority in Western Thrace.
“We hosted representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Athens and the U.S. Consulate General in Selanik at our İskeçe branch today. We had the opportunity to evaluate the issues concerning the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace together. We thank them for their kind visit and interest,” the statement said.
