FEP Party Elected to EFA Executive Board

The Party of Friendship, Equality and Peace (FEP) has been elected to the executive board of the European Free Alliance (EFA) during its General Assembly held between May 8–10 in Nantes, Brittany, France.

Representing FEP Party at the General Assembly were Party President Çiğdem Asafoğlu, Pervin Hayrullah, and Kerem Abdurahimoğlu. The assembly included agenda items such as the approval of new member parties, endorsement of the executive board’s performance, and adoption of the new fiscal budget.

A key highlight of the event was the presentation of policy proposals by member parties. FEP Party introduced a motion titled “Europe for Everyone,” advocating for the establishment of an EU Minority Commissioner and the legal adoption of the Minority Safepack as a binding legislative package. The motion, presented by Kerem Abdurahimoğlu, was unanimously approved.

On the second day, elections were held to determine EFA’s new executive board for the next three years. Among 17 parties vying for seats, FEP Party secured 21 out of 34 votes, successfully electing Kerem Abdurahimoğlu as a full member and Pervin Hayrullah as a substitute member of the EFA executive board.

In the board’s internal meeting that followed, Lorena Lopez De La Calle was elected President, and Kerem Abdurahimoğlu was appointed Vice President of EFA — marking a significant milestone for FEP Party.

The General Assembly concluded with a public event under the theme “To Exist is to Speak,” introducing the newly elected leadership. FEP Party’s inclusion in the EFA executive board enhances the visibility and advocacy capacity of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority within European institutions.

During the event, the FEP delegation also engaged with EFA’s Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) and representatives of other member parties, providing updates and insights into the current situation and challenges faced by the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace.
