Federations of Tradespeople and Merchants request non-repayable financial support from the region
The Presidents of the Federations of Tradespeople and Merchants of Meriç (Evros), Rodop (Rhodope), İskeçe (Xanthi), Kavala, and Drama have jointly written to the Deputy Regional Governor for Development,
Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Research & Social Economy of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Alexandros Iosifidis, requesting financial support for their members to cover energy expenses in 2024. They emphasized that such assistance is crucial to ensuring business sustainability and preserving jobs.
In their letter, the federations stated:
*"Given the ongoing pressures faced by small and medium-sized enterprises due to rising energy costs, the Federations of Professional, Craft, and Commercial Associations of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace consider it urgent to create a special non-repayable support program to sustain the viability and competitiveness of these businesses.
The initiative aims to boost liquidity for SMEs in the region by covering part of their electricity and natural gas costs for 2024, thereby safeguarding both their operations and employment.
We look forward to your prompt action and are ready to present a complete implementation plan for this proposal."*
