Evaluation from PASOK

PASOK-KINAL Rhodope Provincial Organization evaluated the visit of Prime Minister Mitsotakis to the region.

PASOK - KINAL Party Rhodope Provincial Organization issued a statement about Prime Minister Kiryakos Mitsotakis' two-day visit to Western Thrace.

The PASOK-KINAL Party Rhodope Provincial Organization, which said, "The Prime Minister was applauded without responding to the critical issues concerning the present and future of Thrace, and without mentioning the difficult daily lives of our compatriots," said in a statement regarding the visit:

"The visit of the prime minister and ministerial delegation to the Rhodope province last weekend, a few months before the elections, was of a pre-election nature and very little institutional.

The Prime Minister garnered applause without addressing the critical issues concerning the present and future of Thrace, and without mentioning the difficult daily lives of our compatriots.

The prime minister and ministers even refused to accept the demands of some manufacturers who saw their business getting worse day by day.

They showed that instead of listening to what the local people wanted to tell them, they came here to speak the words on the papers that the advisors from Athens had prepared for them.

They shared smiles, selfies, handshakes, announced their ceremony and election candidacy.

For increasing unemployment and increasing migration of the local population, for market lockdowns, for the unbearable energy costs that are eating away at the profits of farmers, small and medium-sized enterprises, for the demands of businesses and citizens for fuel prices and the need to create a special case for the Rhodope, for the decline of the Komotini Industry, They did not speak for the continuation of the ban on the passage of tourist buses through the Nimfea border crossing, nor for the Yassıköy and Narlıköy dams, symbols of an anti-development strategy that they had formulated at the end of the inter-party meeting a few months ago and which seems to be rapidly out of use.

In this visit of Mitsotakis to Komotini, the image and cheap promises given to those invited to meet him in the hotel lobby are left behind. Maybe that was the purpose. The visit was made to boost party morale and to prepare the mechanism to work in the upcoming elections.

But the Rhodope people have a memory. They know very well that it is the governments of PASOK that are truly identified with the big steps, institutional and legal cuts that contribute to the promotion of East Macedonia and the Thrace Province and contribute to the improvement of the living standards and welfare of the broad social strata of our region.

Mitsotakis and his government will receive a strong and convincing response in the general elections."
