ESPA programs and projects evaluated in EMT Region

Nicola De Michelis, Director of the General Directorate of Regional Policy and Urban Development (DG REGIO) of the European Commission, attended the meeting held at the headquarters of the EMT Presidency in Komotini.

In addition to State President Christos Metios and DG REGIO Director Nicola De Michelis, State Administrative Secretary Pavlos Damianidis, "East Macedonia, Thrace" Program Special Administration Service Head Panagiotis Koudoumakis, DG REGIO and Special Administration Service officials were also present at the meeting.

At the meeting, the implementation and impact of projects such as combating unemployment in the state with ESPA resources, both at the level of economic development such as entrepreneurship, tourism, energy, transportation, and in social policy areas such as health, education support, and social welfare were emphasized.

In the continuation of the meeting, the presentation of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Province's projects and actions of ESPA for the 2014-2020 programming period and the launch and guidelines of the new ESPA for the 2021-2027 period were discussed.

Then, State President Metios and DG REGIO Director Michelis held a technical meeting with the organs of East Macedonia and Thrace State in a hotel in Komotini. At the meeting, ideas were exchanged on the new ESPA for the 2021-2027 period, and suggestions were presented.

DG REGIO Director Michelis, who will stay in Western Thrace for two days, will visit the projects and businesses that were built and implemented by the state presidency, financed by ESPA resources.
