Eskişehir Rumeli Balkan Cultural and Solidarity Association visits Gümülcine
On November 6, a delegation from Türkiye’s Eskişehir Rumeli Balkan Cultural and Solidarity Association visited Gümülcine, accompanied by former president of the Gümülcine Turkish Youth Union (GTGB), Dr. Koray Hasan. The visit began with breakfast at a local restaurant in Çepelli village, under the jurisdiction of Yassıköy Municipality.
Following breakfast, the delegation visited the GTGB, where they were briefed on the union's history and activities. Dr. Koray Hasan shared detailed insights into the GTGB's founding mission, programs, and development over the years.
As part of the visit, a ceremony recognized contributions to the documentary "In the Footsteps of Mustafa Kemal in the Balkans." Plaques were presented by Koşukavak Tourism owner Rıfat Yakupoğlu to former MP Galip Galip, Dr. Koray Hasan, and Mümin Mümin for their involvement. In his acceptance speech, Galip highlighted Atatürk's initiation of the alphabet reform in these lands and emphasized the importance of children learning religion in their native language, aiming to raise awareness on this issue.
Concluding the event, Eskişehir Association President Neziha Bilen reflected on her organization's mission, continuing the legacy of the "Rumeli Muhacirin Cemiyet-i Hayriyesi," founded by her ancestors in 1923. She presented a commemorative plaque symbolizing the founding of GTGB to its current president, Sedat Hasan.
The visit ended with a group photo in front of the GTGB building, marking a memorable day for both the association and the guests from Eskişehir.
