Entry to some forested areas is banned today (Tuesday 9 July 2024) as the Rhodope region is in category 3 on the Fire Risk Forecast Map.

Rhodope region is among the areas with high fire risk today, according to the Fire Risk Forecast Map published by the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection.

Therefore, in accordance with Article 130 of Law 4926/2022, it was decided to implement the measure of prohibition of passage, accommodation and movement of persons and vehicles in the following forest areas.According to the statement made by the Office of the Rhodope Unit of the Presidency of the Province of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, the following areas are banned for entry today: 1- Nimfe forest in the Municipality of Komotini. 2- The forest area in the coastal area of Oake in the Municipality of Komotini.

3- The recreational area "Profiti Ilias" in the west of Yassıköy settlement in Yassıköy Municipality. 4- The Alsos area in the borders of Sapci in Şapçı-Maronia Municipality. 5- The touristic forest area in Imaret in Şapçı-Maronia Municipality. 6- The forest in the coastal area in Imaret in Şapçı-Maronia Municipality.

7- The forest of the coastal area in Profiti Ilia in Imaret in the municipality of Şapçı-Maronia. 8- The forest of the coastal area of Kapsala in Imaret in the municipality of Şapçı-Maronia. 9- The forest of the coastal area of Krioneri in the municipality of Şapçı-Maronia. The Civil Protection Directorate of the DMT State Directorate advises citizens to be especially careful and to avoid actions that may cause fire through negligence, such as burning dry grass and branches outdoors or burning cleaning residues, using machines that cause such sparks.The use of chainsaws, welding devices, the use of outdoor grills, smoking bees, throwing lit cigarettes, etc. It is also reminded that it is forbidden to burn fields during the fire protection season. In the event of a fire, citizens are asked to immediately notify the fire brigade at 199.
