Dr Sadık Ahmet, the unforgettable leader who fought for the granting of rights to the Western Thrace Turks living in Greece, was commemorated by the cognates at his grave on the 28th anniversary of his death.

The late Dr Sadık Ahmet, who pioneered the struggle against the denial of the "Turkish" identity of the Western Thrace Turks by the Greek state and for the restoration of their violated rights, lost his life in a tragic traffic accident 28 years ago.

Dr Sadık Ahmet, who was commemorated at his grave with ceremonies held every year, was also remembered with mercy and gratitude this year.

The Friendship, Equality and Peace (FEP) Party, of which he was the founder and first president, organised a commemoration programme on the 28th anniversary of Dr. Sadık Ahmet's death. The programme organised at the grave of the deceased started at 19.00 in the evening.

The programme started with the recitation of sala and Aşr-ı Şerif' recited by İsmail Ahmet in memory of Dr. Sadik Ahmet and all martyrs. Then İbrahim Şerif, President of the Advisory Board of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace and Mufti of Komotini, made a prayer.

The programme continued with protocol speeches. In the speeches emphasising the meaning and importance of the day, the struggle of Dr Sadık Ahmet for the Western Thrace Turks was mentioned.
