Development of small, mountainous and island Municipalities in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace at the Center of Regional Governor’s meeting with MOD President

The development needs of small, mountainous, and island municipalities in the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (EMT) were the main focus of a meeting held between Regional Governor Christodoulos Topsidis and the President of the Board of the Management Organisation Unit (MOD), Kostas Karalis. The meeting also included the participation of Panagiotis Koudoumakis, Head of the Special Management Service of the “Eastern Macedonia – Thrace” Operational Program.

The talks, held at MOD’s offices in Athens, centered on the forthcoming invitation by the Region to MOD for the preparation of technical studies on behalf of municipalities. The purpose of these studies is to mature projects so that they can later be integrated into EMT’s ESPA (Partnership Agreement for the Development Framework) for funding.

Regional Governor Topsidis emphasized:

“Through our excellent cooperation with President Mr. Karalis and the executives of MOD, we are implementing an action plan that recognizes and supports the needs of our municipalities. With proper preparation and planning, important projects will be eligible for funding, thus contributing to the development and upgrading of our local communities.”

Priority will be given to small, mountainous, and island municipalities of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, with projects focusing on critical areas for local development such as water supply, integrated spatial investments for the Rhodope Mountain Range, and infrastructure connected to the Egnatia Motorway.
