Deputy Minister of National Education of Türkiye, YTB President Abdullah Eren attends GTGB’s Sahur Program
During his visit to Western Thrace, Türkiye’s Deputy Minister of National Education, Nazif Yılmaz, attended the suhoor program organized by the Komotini Turkish Youth Union (GTGB).
Deputy Minister Nazif Yılmaz was accompanied by the President of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), Abdullah Eren, the Mayor of Başiskele, Kocaeli, Mehmet Yasin Öz, and their delegation.
The event also saw the participation of Türkiye’s Consul General in Komotini, Aykut Ünal, Komotini Mufti İbrahim Şerif, Chairperson of the Friendship, Equality, and Peace Party (FEP), Çiğdem Asafoğlu, Rodopi MP from the New Left Party, Özgür Ferhat, as well as members of the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Regional Council, mayors, and representatives of various associations and organizations.
Messages of Solidarity and Unity
Before the suhoor meal, attendees delivered brief welcome speeches. The first to speak was Türkiye’s Consul General in Komotini, Aykut Ünal, who greeted the participants and provided a summary of the visit conducted by Deputy Minister Yılmaz and his delegation. Concluding his speech, Consul General Ünal extended his best wishes for Ramadan and invited everyone to the Eid reception at the Consulate General of Komotini.
Following him, YTB President Abdullah Eren, originally from Western Thrace, addressed the gathering, sharing his deep connection with the region. Lastly, Deputy Minister of National Education, Nazif Yılmaz, embraced his Western Thracian compatriots with heartfelt words.
Both Yılmaz and Eren expressed their pleasure in meeting with the minority community and emphasized that their discussions with minority leaders had been highly productive. They reassured the Turkish minority of Western Thrace that they were not alone, highlighting the importance of unity and solidarity.
The sahur program organized by GTGB concluded with the shared meal, leaving a lasting impression of togetherness and camaraderie among the attendees.
