Deputy mayor Mehmet Arif introduces drone-assisted cemetery cleaning in Yassıköy

Yassıköy Deputy Mayor and Acting Mayor Mehmet Arif has pioneered the use of drones for cemetery maintenance, marking a first for the municipality. In a new initiative aimed at improving efficiency and reducing costs, drones were deployed to spray herbicide following grass-cutting operations in cemeteries across several villages.
INNOVATIVE METHOD FOR SPRING CLEANING
Under the supervision of Mehmet Arif, municipal workers carried out grass trimming in the cemeteries of Büyük Müsellim, Çepelli Taşlık Mahalle, and Orta Mahalle. After the manual clearing, drones were used to spray herbicides over the dry grass to prevent regrowth and maintain cleanliness. The use of drones is seen as a time- and labor-saving innovation that also brings economic benefits to the municipality.
TRADITIONAL METHODS TO CONTINUE WHERE NEEDED
While drones played a significant role, Arif noted that traditional spraying methods will still be used in areas where drones cannot reach. “With the arrival of spring, we’ve begun cleaning and maintaining our cemeteries,” he said. “This new method not only saves time and labor but is also cost-effective. Our goal is to provide the best possible service to our citizens.”
WORK TO CONTINUE IN OTHER VILLAGES
Cemetery maintenance efforts will continue uninterrupted in other villages throughout the municipality. Mehmet Arif expressed gratitude for the dedication of the municipal teams and offered special thanks to Birol Arif for his contributions to the initiative.
