Deputy Ferhat meets with the President of ELGA to discuss the damages to cherries affected by hail
In the statement made by Özgür Ferhat, MP, regarding the meeting held at the ELGA headquarters in Athens, it was stated that they discussed the damage caused by the recent hailstorm in the Yaka region, which damaged nearly 100 thousand cherry trees and destroyed two-thirds of the cherry production.
After the meeting, MP Ferhat said the following in a written statement:
"We came to the conclusion that we agree with the president that the remedies to minimise the effects of hail and other natural disasters, which cause great damage and loss of production every year, can be put into effect with the new bill in the coming period. In the coming period, we aim to implement new articles in the new ELGA law for the Tobacco of our region.
I would like to state that our joint work will continue in order to combine the compensation season in tobacco with the production season, which has been rightfully demanded by our producers for years, and to pay damage money to the plant, i.e. boiling, and to cover other diseases and extreme weather conditions as compensation!
I would like to thank Mr. I would like to thank Mr Likurencos and all the staff of the institution for our institutional cooperation and the sensitivity shown on behalf of our region."
