Turkey's Consul General to Komotini, Aykut Unal, evaluated the great earthquake disaster in which thousands of people lost their lives and were injured in the homeland of Türkiye, in Radio City.

While conveying his thoughts on the great disaster in the program, Consul General Ünal thanked the Turks of Western Thrace for their unwavering support for earthquake victims in Türkiye.

In his speech, Consul General Ünal said, "We are deeply saddened by the earthquake disaster that took place on February 6 in our country. We wish God's mercy on those who lost their lives and a speedy recovery to the injured.

We would like to express our gratitude to the Turks of Western Thrace, who did not leave us alone with the news of this disaster, showed their moral and financial support and mobilized to help our country by pushing all their means.

As the Consulate General, we are part of an instantaneous system that includes all our representations in Greece under the leadership of our Embassy in Athens. We are making the announcements that you follow within the framework of the instructions received from our Ministry. We compare support offers with needs and channel them to the right addresses.

The existence and support of Western Thrace Turkish Minority organizations is very important. As you know, the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board has established a very well-functioning mechanism for financial and material aid that includes all board stakeholders, namely mufti offices, municipalities and associations. It will continue until the market. Many thanks to the Advisory Board.

We get involved in these activities whenever we have the opportunity.

Here, I should also mention: kinsmen working in various business lines want to take a position in Türkiye. We also take note of them. If there are situations where these people need help, we connect them with relevant organizations in Türkiye. Each contribution is important and valuable, but it's also important to have it right.

As for the needs: As stated in the Advisory Board announcement, winter supplies such as coats, boots, berets, gloves for adults and children, socks, canned food, dried legumes, diapers-food, pads, boots, raincoats, external charging for mobile phones tool (power bank), cleaning supplies. Beyond that, of course, are blankets, tents and heaters.

Aid can also be monetary. For this, the Advisory Board was organized.

What needs to be considered: the clothing material is not used. This was noted in the announcements of institutions and organizations. Helpers act according to their means with a very natural reflex. Very emotional of course.

But please do not use clothing material. Zero material and labeled if possible. When our institutions receive the materials, they classify them once again and have to eliminate the used ones. The basis is this: hygiene, the classification of new products is much easier and time-saving."

"Greece's solidarity with our country is very valuable"
Referring to the aid of Greece, which was not indifferent to the earthquake disaster in Türkiye, Consul General Aykut Ünal said, "In our duty region, local authorities have started aid activities as well as our kin, minority organizations, the people are participating. Campaigns are being carried out throughout Greece. Search and rescue teams have been sent to our country, lives were saved. Greece's solidarity with our country is very valuable. We express our gratitude to our compatriots on the occasion of this publication, I wish you good publications."
