Consul General Ünal and trade attaché İren meet with Western Thracian businesspeople
Türkiye's Consul General in Komotini, Aykut Ünal, and the Trade Attaché of the Turkish Consulate General in Thessaloniki, Gülcan İren, met with businesspeople from Western Thrace as part of a series of engagements aimed at strengthening economic ties with the Turkish minority in Greece.
On Thursday, May 22, Consul General Ünal and Attaché İren visited the Thrace Businessmen’s Association (TİAD) in Komotini. During the visit, they held a productive meeting with local Turkish entrepreneurs, discussing economic cooperation, business development opportunities, and shared concerns.
The Turkish Consulate in Komotini posted about the meeting on social media, stating:
“Together with our Trade Attaché from the Thessaloniki Consulate General, Ms. Gülcan İren, we met with our fellow members of the Thrace Businessmen’s Association. We thank the association’s officials for a fruitful meeting.”
Thessaloniki Consultation Meeting
A day earlier, on Wednesday, May 21, the Trade Office of the Turkish Consulate in Thessaloniki hosted a consultation meeting in Thessaloniki with Turkish businesspeople from Western Thrace.
At the event, presentations were made by Serkan Gedik, Türkiye’s Consul General in Thessaloniki, and Gülcan İren, Trade Attaché. In addition, Aykut Ünal, Consul General in Komotini, and Hamid Tatcı, Commercial Counsellor at the Turkish Embassy in Athens, joined the meeting online.
Both Ünal and Tatcı provided valuable insights into the economic and commercial landscape for the Turkish minority in Western Thrace and more broadly in Greece, underlining Türkiye’s commitment to supporting Turkish entrepreneurs abroad.
