Confusion over OSDE 2025: Zeybek questions delays and ambiguities in regulatory framework
Members of the New Left party have called on the Ministry of Rural Development and Food to immediately clarify the support framework and criteria for the so-called “technical solution.”
With a formal question addressed to the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Xanthi MP and Agricultural Policy Spokesperson of the New Left, Husein Zeibek, highlighted the prevailing uncertainty surrounding the regulatory and technical framework for this year’s OSDE (Common Agricultural Policy declarations) and direct subsidies. The question is co-signed by five other MPs from the party.
The statement points out that while other European countries have already completed their submission processes, Greece is facing significant delays, with Application Reception Centers yet to receive official instructions.
Special attention is given to contradictory statements by the Minister himself, who initially rejected the implementation of the “technical solution” for pastures but later announced its application for the mainland, along with an alternative scenario for the islands. Simultaneously, discussions are ongoing regarding new criteria—such as milk delivery—without any legally substantiated framework that complies with EU requirements.
The MPs emphasize that this lack of clarity leaves farmers and livestock breeders unaware of eligibility criteria and unable to plan their submissions. They accuse the administration of complete inertia and demand immediate answers to the following questions:
- What is the final and complete framework that will apply to this year’s OSDE declarations and direct subsidies?
- What exact criteria is the Ministry considering for the “technical solution,” and to what extent have these been accepted by the relevant EU authorities?
- How will it be ensured that agricultural subsidies are not cut for honest livestock breeders?
