Tsolakidis announces that he will not run for Mayor
Vasilis Tsolakidis, the former Mayor of Bulustra (Avdira) and the current head of the main opposition, announced that he will not be a candidate for mayor of the Municipality of Bulustra (Avdira) in the municipal elections that will take place in October 2023.
Tsolakidis, in his written statement, stated that he will not be mayor candidate in the municipal elections that will take place next year, and that he will not break away from politics as an active municipality resident.
He announced that a new name would be placed at the head of the list he chaired and that he would support the new mayor candidate. It is not yet known who will top the list of Tsolakidis.
The new list that will be formed after Tsolakidis is expected to participate in the elections with a stronger, young, dynamic and mayoral candidate against current Mayor Yorgos Tsitiridis, who attempt to plunder the Horozlu (Petinos) Muslim Turkish Cemetery.
Vasilis Tsolakidis, in his statement on the subject, said:
"Today, I officially declare that I will not be a candidate for Mayor in the upcoming local elections. Our list will compete in the municipal elections to be held in October 2023 with the new leader we will determine in the upcoming period. I am sure that our team will win the elections. In order to form a strong staff, our group has already started working within the framework of dialogue.
I feel the need to thank all my compatriots who have supported me over the years. I tried to be worthy of your votes with my love, trust, work and services.
I would like to especially thank the former and new council member candidates in our staff for their joint efforts and devoted contributions to our country.
We have struggled for many years together with our citizens who have a common vision. From now on, we will continue to be active for the benefit of our society.
Our country has great potential. It takes a lot of work for all of us to uncover them.
As an active resident and citizen, I will continue to share my experiences with my friends stand next to them and help them.”
Vasilis Tsolakidis served as Kozlar (Pigadia) Town Manager, Mayor of Vistonida between 2000-2008 and Mayor of Avdira (Bulustra) between 2010-2014.
TSolakidis is currently the head of the main opposition of Avdira (Bulustra) Municipality.
