Climate change and its effects to be discussed
The Municipality of Komotini, in cooperation with the Rhodope Union of Professional Farmer Entrepreneurs, will organise on Tuesday 21 May an information event on "Climate Change in Thrace - Impact on the Agri-Food Sector - Accuracy of Weather Forecasts". The event will start at 19.00 and will take place at the Municipal Library "Tsanaklio".
Kiriakos Krokos (President of the Association of Professional Farmers Entrepreneurs of Rhodope), Aleksandra Gemici (Professor of Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Thessaloniki), Sakis Arnautoglu (Editor and presenter of ERT3 Weather Bulletin), Triantafillos Papadakis (President of the Thrace Branch of the Geotechnical Chamber of Greece) are the speakers of the event.
The aim of the event was to scientifically document the climate changes in the region in recent years, analyse their impact on the agri-food sector and farmers' incomes, and explore ways of intervention by local authorities in the area of the use of risk warning programmes and precision weather forecasts.
