Circulation of counterfeit banknotes in İskeçe
Authorities in İskeçe have uncovered a counterfeit money operation involving three individuals who used fake €20 banknotes for transactions at local kiosks.
Following an investigation by the Public Security Team of the Crime Detection and Investigation Department of Xanthi, a case file has been compiled against two men and one woman for circulating counterfeit currency.
122 Fake €20 Banknotes Seized
According to police reports, the suspects engaged in fraudulent transactions on February 5, 2025, purchasing prepaid cards from two kiosks using a total of 122 counterfeit €20 banknotes.
Law enforcement officers confiscated all 122 fake bills, and the case has been forwarded to the Prosecutor of the Xanthi Court of First Instance. The investigation was carried out by the Crime Detection and Investigation Department of Xanthi.
Authorities have urged local businesses to be vigilant and report any suspicious banknotes immediately.
