Çavuşoğlu: We have never left the Western Thrace Turks alone, we will never leave them alone!
In his post on his social media account, Çavuşoğlu stated that they hosted the members of BTTADK in Ankara, “Greece continues to violate the Treaty of Lausanne and the basic human rights of our kinsmen. We have never left the Western Thrace Turks alone, we will not leave them alone!” he used the phrases.
Çavuşoğlu made the following statements in his post in Turkish and English:
“Greece prevents the minority members from usin 'Turk/Turkish' in the names of their schools, foundations, societies & communal organizations.
Greece violates freedom of association of Turkish Minority & the European Court of Human Rights penalized Greece on three different occasions.
Greece did not implement these judgments for almost 15 years.
Greece does not allow Turkish minority's rights to elect their own religious representatives.
The new Greek Law on the Muftiates contradicts 1923 Lausanne Peace Treaty & deprives the Turkish Mİnority of their basic human rights.
Greece expropriates properties of Turkish wakfs and foundations in Western Thrace.
Greece discriminates the Turkish Minority by exerting excessive financial regulations and arbitrary taxation.
Greece closed more than 90 Turkish Minority Primary schools in the past 15 years & does not allow New Minority schools to be opened.
Greece does not allow renovation & expansion of existing Minority school buildings.
Greece does not grant enough working permits for instructors/teachers in Turkish language to work in Turkish Minority schools. Greece also prevents updating of the Turkish teaching materials.
